It’s a book!

November 21, 2008

I was going to write “It’s a girl!,” but I resisted the temptation, because this book is for and about everyone. Sure, it says “female sexual power” right there in the subtitle, but what we’re working toward is a world where we all have the right to enjoy our bodies in our own authentic ways, completely free from violence, coercion, pressure, commodification or shame.

OK, soapbox over (for now). We’ll be getting into all of this right here in this very blog. The big news at YMY headquarters is that the books have arrived! Amazon has them in stock, and they should be in your local bookstore any minute now. In fact, why don’t you pop your head in and ask for it this weekend? And if it’s not on the way, be sure to encourage your local bookseller to order it.

I am very, very proud to be a part of this project. I’m a bit awed just to be included in a list with the other contributors. I didn’t know who the others were until very recently, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the book.

I went to my bookstore last night, which is usually up to date on new feminist books, and they didn’t have it yet. Hopefully soon. If they don’t have it the next time I check (hopefully a week or two), I’ll ask!
